Comparative measurements between the BRA and JZR.

Comparing the "barrel back" BRA with the "beetle back" JZR
Measurements are in mm

                                                                                               JZR                                              BRA

Seat back width:                                                                918                                                995

Dashboard to seatback:                                                  760                                       760

Dashboard width:                                                 950                                       1000

Cockpit width at dashboard:                                          965                                                1020

Footwell internal length:                                        1410                                              1420

Floor to cockpit coaming at centre:                        592                                                662 (with std depth of increase of 50mm)

Dashboard to front end:                                                 1140                                      1280

Engine bay bulkhead to front chassis member:       480                                                 495

Outer to outer engine bay width:                            462                                                483

Distance between front uprights:                            570                                                583

The BRA car is deeper, one sits in it more and far more comfortably. The cockpit is wider. By reason of seat back width being wider there is more width across "your butt!" For example, I offer sliding bucket seats as an optional extra, these give slightly more increased leg length, however, these will not fit in my JZR. Opinions widely held are that one tends to sit in a BRA more than in a JZR, in fact one’s body tends to protrude more above the JZR cockpit coaming.

In the photos below, the red car is a JZR beetle back, and the black and silver car is a BRA barrel back

Compare the respective shoulder levels.

You can see from the above pictures, how the seating position differs, and how one's body presents more drag in a JZR than a BRA. To put this in a little perspective, I am 5ft 5ins/1.65m tall and weigh 175lbs/ 79kg.
